FPGAs are becoming widely accepted in avionics applications due to their significant advantages for introducing technological innovation. Furthermore, the need for customized solutions, critical bug fixes together with specific enhancements for the IEEE1394 and AS5643 interface is gaining in importance in order to provide more reliable, stable and mature avionics systems.  Looking at it in the big picture, IP-based AS5643 interface solutions can be the  trigger for a new generation of AS5643 functionality, interface definition and system performance. At a minimum IP solutions can be a development bread-boarding and testing platform for a later integration within silicon or ASICs. However, with modern FPGAs becoming more powerful together with affordable pricing, the costs for such silicon development, testing and verification likely will become prohibitive.

(Oldenzaal, the Netherlands, May 12, 2017) DapTechnology B.V. today announced the release of the world's first automated test equipment for AS5657 compliance verification.

The AS5657 Automated Test Environment (AS5657-ATE) is designed to automate device compliance testing according to the SAE-AS5657 “Test Plan/Procedure for AS5643 IEEE-1394b Interface Requirements for Military and Aerospace Vehicle Applications”. The purpose of this tool is to automate and simplify the task of AS5643 compliance verification and testing, which of course is essential for device compatibility within avionics and aerospace programs. The tool utilizes and benefits from proven test and interface components already developed by DapTechnology and adds test executive functionality together with predefined test scripts and a customization and expansion environment.

DapTechnology B.V. announced that three if its patent applications regarding IEEE-1394 technology have been awarded by the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Two more applications are currently under review by the USPTO and awards are pending.

All three patent awards as well as the applications affirm the company's leading position in IEEE-1394 and AS5643 technology and its continued quest to develop leading edge solution. The FireSpy9x32bT bus analyzer is the world’s first and only 9-channel IEEE-1394 bus analyzer. Based on the 4th Generation bus analyzer architecture, the FireSpy9X32bT, in fact combines nine single-channel FireSpy analyzers into one single IEEE-1394 bus test instrument. The analyzer features an on-board processor that is significantly more powerful, as well as improved host computer connectivity via USB3.

NIJMEGEN, The Netherlands--(BUSINESS WIRE)--DapTechnology, a world-leading supplier of advanced IEEE 1394 protocol analyzers and solutions to the aerospace, defense, industrial, automotive and consumer electronics markets announced today that a prototype version of the world’s first high speed 3.2 Gigabit 1394b Firewire SOC Solution will be demonstrated at Vision 2011 in Stuttgart Germany. The demonstration will show data being transferred between the local file systems of two personal computers via a high speed IEEE 1394b S3200 connection. The setup will feature DapTechnology’s S3200 HAC Host Reference Adapters installed within each PC and connected together via copper cabling transmitting data at S3200. Additionally, a FireSpy 3200 analyzer will be connected to the system in order to monitor and record activity on the S3200 connection, while a user interface will show the data rates achieved and summarize other transmission attributes. DapTechnology is building on the already released IEEE 1394b S1600 solution which is currently being integrated within some key customer systems.
